How long should a boomerang be?
One to three seconds. Short clips with a single clear action are what the effect flatters; anything longer starts to feel repetitive on the second pass.
Does the audio play backwards too?
Reversed speech and music sound strange, so boomerangs are usually best silent or with music added afterwards. Mute the clip, or replace the soundtrack once the boomerang is exported.
How is this different from looping a video?
A loop replays the same section from the start, so any mismatch between the end and the beginning shows as a jump. A boomerang plays forward then backward, so the ends match by construction and the seam is always invisible.
Is the exported clip twice as long as my selection?
Yes — the forward pass plus the reverse pass, so a 1.5 second selection produces a 3 second boomerang.
Can I repeat the boomerang several times in one file?
Export the boomerang and then run it through the loop tool to repeat it as many times as you want in a single continuous file.
